It's ILP season again.
Hello dears. It's a Saturday afternoon, on the 27th of August twenty-eleven, and here I am, a year 9 MacRobbian schoolgirl, hoping to get an A+ on her ILP project, as it's "ILP season again" (a good quote from a dear friend). ILP (for those who are not familiar with the term) is short for Independent Learning Project, a compulsory year 9 elective subject for those who attend the MacRobertson Girls High School (search it up on Google). You'll know when its ILP season, when your school inbox is flooded with ILP surveys. "Choose an essential question, choose a product to present it in and get going", they say. Well, that's why I'm here guys, as after a lot of pondering, I chose to spend the rest of my semester with the question, 'Is there a possibility of a World War III?' I thought it interesting that many of the world's conflicts are all centered to implications of world wars, such as casualties, the problem of illegal immigrants, and the poverty of some countries that will definitely affect many of its citizens. And affect them it will, in many devastating ways; from hunger and malnutrition, to a lack of child education, and women and young teenagers (especially girls) being assaulted sexually (and DON'T get me started on unwanted teenage pregnancies). So with all the conflict going on over the years, would one be intense enough to start a world war? And THAT would just simply trigger more conflict, AND THE CYCLE GOES ON MY DEARS.
So here's the plan; research on the world wars and what started them, look up the current conflicts of today and compare them with history's past war-creators to see if it would expand to be a World War III. Sorry dears, I'm assuming this might bore you just a smidge. This idea did too, for my friends that is. They asked me if I was sane in the head, since I chose such a boring topic. But it doesn't bore me in the slightest bit, to be honest, considering imma be a diplomat "when I grow up". I think it's really amazing how an event can affect a lot of people on a large scale. And that's what I'm here for.
So here we go, a semester of World Wars, so wish me good luck.
Hoping for the best,
Meutia Widodo
