This is it guys, the windup...
Oh my gosh guys, this'll probably be the last major thing I'll post on this website! D:
So sad now, (I should correct that, so HAPPY now, since if I finish this, I won't have to keep any commitments to the website anymore. Sorry.) but this is what you've all been waiting for (okay, its probably what I've been waiting for); finally, THE CONCLUSION! So help yourselves...
So you know, from my essential question, “Is there a possibility of a World War III?” to here, the end of my project, the final post. So I’m guessing we all have different opinions on the possibilities of World War II, the specific conflict that will expand into a full-scale war, or whether you are of opinion that there will be NO World War III, as countries would learn from their mistakes, or their deterrents would stop any wars occurring in the future, or whether you (yes, YOU READER) just skipped reading all my other pages to just read my conclusion and have absolutely NO IDEA (I know this would be the majority of you all). But to find out the answer to this topic, we need to analyze the question in depth.
So I thought if we examine the causes for World War I and II (which if you read my previous web pages, is what I did), we might be able to better understand if a situation such as World War III can be avoided. And what I found was that the growth of nationalism, tangle of alliances, as the greed for power (or you know, imperialism) is but a few of the causes of both conflicts.
As I’ve researched about the tension between Israel and Iran, the tension between North Korea and South Korea, and many others like them, I have started to piece clues that would link us to another World War.
With the growth of globalization and the erosion of strict notions of nationalism due to advances in technology, I would like to think that the conditions are different from those that initiated conflicts in the twentieth century. At the same time, I think that we have become a bit more sophisticated in our approach to dealing with nations and governments, using diplomatic, economic and other channels to bring political establishments into the mainstream. One can only hope that such elements can be avoided by those in the position of power and that citizens are mindful that governments that thrive off of citizen apathy are ones more prone to the abuses of power that can lead to a wide an intense conflict.
So what I’ve deducted from this 6-month school project is that World War III is probably coming. Sorry to disappoint you guys, if you all have been waiting for very specific details on this future World War III, but that would take a very, VERY long research project, kinda more than just half a year.
But I reckon that World War III is a possibility with already the allies lining up such as Iran and North Korea, and the threat of nuclear war does indeed exist. The one hope that world War III will not happen is that we have in place the UN, European Union and a president of the United States who was presented with the Noble Peace Prize.
But the thing that I’m most concerned about, in determining the possibility of a World War III is how you would label a certain conflict a World War. If you have read my previous pages, you would have read that a World War is a major conflict that involved most of the world, but the thing is, is that it may take years before another major conflict could be arguably recognized as a World War III. You should also take note, that serious wars before and after the first two world wars, even those that are very closely associated with them are simply treats a s part of the larger conflict (e.g. the Balkan Wars from 1912-1913, the Polish-Soviet War from 1919-1921, the Japanese invasion of Manchuria and later China, the Spanish Civil War, the Italian Invasions of Ethiopia and Albania and the 1938 German annexation of Austria and occupation of Czechslovakia. Therefore, the specific event where a future World War III begins may only be determined retrospectively.
But to put into simpler terms, “Heading for World War III” is an expression that has connotations of something likely to happen in near future. However the kind of human and national tendencies that caused the first World Wars continues in the world unabated. As a result wars will continue to be fought in the world even today, and likely will be continued to be fought for times to come. In addition to that, because of globalization there are all the possibilities that over a period of time, these localized conflicts and wars will escalate into a full-size war.
* But you know, you can't have an attitude (in a nutshell) that has, "...wars are inevitable, so lets start one whenever we feel threatened..." written on your forehead. Because that of course makes wars inevitable. Then, you blame wars on the ineffectiveness of peacemakers (Chamberlain, Obama, the UN, etc.) failing to take responsibility for your aggression and rejection of peace. You have made yourself a beautiful, simple belief-system that allows you to believe you may start wars and blame peacemakers for it.
